Shooting Star Children’s Hospices hosts Open Day this month

SHOOTING Star Children’s Hospices will be opening its doors on Saturday 22 June, to welcome those in the local community to explore their facilities, meet some of the dedicated team and learn more about the breadth of services offered.

The charity supports families with a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or who have been bereaved, across south-west London, north-west London and Surrey.

The Open Day will be held at Shooting Star House in Hampton and will allow people to witness first-hand the warmth and support the charity provides. With morning and afternoon sessions available, visitors are welcome to book a time slot that best suits them, with entry completely free. There will also be some refreshments and fun activities on offer for all the family to enjoy.

At Shooting Star House, families are supported with an array of essential services tailored to meet their diverse needs. From bereavement support and counselling to therapeutic sessions like hydrotherapy and dramatherapy as well as sibling groups, their compassionate team are there to support families through every step of their journey.

The Open Day is being held during Children’s Hospice Week, (17 – 23 June) an annual week which celebrates children’s hospice and palliative care services across our communities in the UK. Throughout the week, Shooting Star is championing the theme ‘Opening Doors, Dispelling Myths’, aiming to shed light on how the charity opens doors to a world of compassionate care and vital support for families, as well as their mission to breakdown common misconceptions about children’s hospices. Something they hope visitors will find attending the Open Day.

Also, during this special week, job seekers are invited to attend the Shooting Star Recruitment Fair which will be held at the charity’s Guildford Hospice, Christopher’s on Tuesday 18 June. The fair is an opportunity to visit the hospice and discover how working at a children’s hospice can be a rewarding experience, making a real difference to children and families, whatever the role. With the recent expansion of their bereavement service, Shooting Star is currently recruiting for a range of roles from the nursing team to administrative support staff and more.
